Journal of Sun Yat-sen University (Medical Sciences) (bimonthly) is a comprehensive medical academic journal sponsored by Sun Yat-sen University and governed by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China.

This journal aims to promote medical academic exchanges, medical training, and the dissemination of scientific research achievements. It mainly publishes the latest achievements in basic and clinical medicine at home and abroad. Innovative, scientific, and practical medical academic research manuscripts are welcomed. Medical researchers are encouraged to submit papers. This journal has columns including Reports, Basic Research, Clinical Research, Technical Research, Information Research, Clinical Observation, etc.

The journal complies with the relevant publishing standard of international associations. All manuscripts must be reviewed and approved by two peer experts and approved by the editorial board before publication. This journal only accepts online submissions. Journal of Sun Yat-sen University (Medical Sciences) is a core journal in medicine and health, indexed by "Chinese Core Journals", and “Statistical Source Journal of Chinese Scientific and Technological Papers”. It has been rated the first grade of Chinese Excellent Scientific Journals by the Ministry of Science and Technology. In 2012, it was named one of " 100 China's Outstanding Academic Journals".
