Journal of Sun Yat-sen University (Medical Sciences) (bimonthly) is a comprehensive medical academic journal sponsored by Sun Yat-sen University and supervised by the Ministry of Education of China.

Sun Yat-sen University has always adhered to the motto of Dr. Sun Yat-sen—“To broaden one's intellectual horizon, to inquire with precision, to think with care, to discern with clarity, and to practice with earnestness”—and has forged ahead with determination. Through the efforts of several generations of scholars, Sun Yat-sen University ranks among the top institutions in China in overall strength. This journal serves medical academic exchange, talent cultivation, and the dissemination of scientific research achievements, and primarily publishes the latest research findings in basic and clinical medicine from China and abroad.

The journal publishes innovative, scientific, and practical manuscripts in medical research. Medical researchers both within and outside the university are welcome to submit their work. The journal's columns include Special Columns, Basic Research, Clinical Research, Reviews, Research Letters, Commentaries, Column of Famous Teachers and Doctors, and Medical Education Research. The journal adheres to international editorial and publishing declarations; all submissions are subject to peer review by two or more experts and must be approved by the Editor-in-Chief before publication.

To align with international standards, the journal invites foreign medical experts to join its editorial board, and self-nominations are welcome.
